Fox 8 New Day Cleveland Smoothie Recipes

April 30, 2014 11 Comments

Thank you to New Day Cleveland for having me on this morning! Here are the recipes from the show... I made these 3 smoothies for a local Childcare and Preschool, Sweet Kiddles in Strongsville. I figure if preschoolers like my smoothies then adults should too ;) Green Giant Smoothie (or Shrek Smoothie or Popeye Smoothie)  1 cup purified water or half water/half ice 3 cups spinach or favorite greens 2-3 bananas... 1/2 cup pineapple (optional) Orange Dreamsicle Smoothie 1 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed 1 large carrot or more 1 cup coconut milk (I buy the silk brand) 2 bananas, frozen 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 Tbsp maple syrup Hot Pink Smoothie 1½ cups coconut water 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 large carrot ½ raw beet ¼ cup cashews (optional, we didn't use due to tree nut allergies) 4-5 pitted dates 1 scoop of vanilla vegan protein powder (optional) 12 frozen strawberries I suggest using a Vitamix Blender for the best smoothie results, blend until smooth and creamy! Be sure to keep an eye out for a clip from the show to see my tips for losing weight with green smoothies!

I tried to subscribe to your mailing list and it wouldn’t go thru.

Thank Christie! The coconut milk gives it the cream flavor so it wont taste exactly the same, but I’m sure it is still yummy!

Loved watching you on Fox 8 today! Carrots and beets are not usually things I get in my diet so I’m exciting to try the new recipes. Have you ever swapped almond milk for coconut milk? Wondering if it will taste different. Thanks!

Bobbi, coconut milk should be where the dairy milk is in a regular grocery store. Coconut water can usually be found in the health food section or with all the other beverages(usually not refrigerated). Sometimes it’s easier to shop at a health food store, but now a days most groceries stores are well supplied. Hope this helps!

hi marisa, I really want to try these smoothie recipes, but I don’t even know where to begin to find coconut milk and water! are they sold in a regular grocery store or can they only be found in a health food store? and are they located in the refrigerated section of the store? thanks for your help!

You are welcome to use fresh or frozen, but some people like to do frozen instead of adding ice for a cold smoothie.

it does help. thanks so much marisa! I have another question tho—why is it that the banana and strawberries should be frozen when putting them into the blender to make these smoothies? why cant fresh, unfrozen fruit be used? (wanted to ask before I try these recipes.)
